The Winery History

1877

More than 200 years ago, the family was already making wine in Monjardin Valley. At that time, the techniques were traditional and the resulting wines were a bit strong in alcohol.

1988

In 1988, Victor and Sonia decide to re-take the old family tradition. This time, they focus on incorporating the latest technology into the winemaking process and they rapidly become the innovation leaders in the region. Further, their goal was to control the whole winemaking process, so they increased 120 hectares of their own vineyards. After a technical study of the climate and terroir, they selected the best grape varieties that range from Garnachas to Pinot Noir.

1995

First wines soon arrive and the results are superb. In less than 5 years, Monjardín wines are well settled at the regional level, and the become internationally known in key markets such as the US, Japan and Germany.

2005

Due to the increasing demand from exports, the winery expands with more than 200 hectares in Ribera Alta area, which is also located in Navarra DO.

2010

More than 30 countries and increasing success. In 2010, the oldest son, Victor del Villar Olano, is ready to incorporate its international expertise in the winery. Today, the Winery is composed of a team of 25 people who are Monjardin lovers.
